Milwaukee - Visual Arts

Milwaukee Art Museum

This beautiful Eero Saarinen-designed structure overlooking Milwaukee’s splendid lakefront is a work of art in itself and houses an outstanding permanent collection of contemporary European and American art.  The Milwaukee Art Museum is also home to the third largest collection of Wisconsin native Georgia O’Keefe’s works.  The stunning “bird in flight” addition to the Museum, designed by the world renowned Spanish architect and engineer, Dr. Santiago Calatrava, opened in October of 2001, making this a most prominent and dynamic new addition to Milwaukee’s skyline.  Nationally recognized as an architectural masterpiece, the addition was honored by Time Magazine as the #1 Design of 2001.  Visit www.mam.org for more details.
