Midwest Airlines Center

Welcome to the Midwest Airlines Center, one of the world's most architecturally exhilarating and technologically robust convention facilities, located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Opened in 1998, the Midwest Airlines Center is one of the few convention centers we know of that people visit just to admire, but don't let that fool you; it's a hard-working facility in a hard-working city. The Midwest Airlines Center is designed for both sensory delight and astonishing efficiency, and operated with strict attention to customer service. It's home to the $1.2 million Burke Family Collection of commissioned and integrated art, and some of the most advanced and IT infrastructure anywhere. With equal ease, it handles the gritty realities of tradeshow setup and offers exquisite elegance for formal banquets.

Whether you come here for work or play, whether you're running the show, part of the show or just attending, you can be assured the Midwest Airlines Center will serve you well.  Take a video tour  of the Midwest Airlines Center Art  or view the Midwest Airlines Center Photo Gallery.

Lighting - Each room division has pre-programmed lighting levels, including full, general lighting; medium for dinner/reception; low for work lights and special for projection settings. Controls are located near the door used by attendees to enter the room. When ready, a presenter can find and activate them without the need of a technician. The overhead lighting tracks are in position to accommodate usual head table locations in any division.

Audio - Each division has a separate built-in sound system that can be interconnected easily. The connections for sound are in proximity to usual head table locations. Our capabilities include public address, recording speakers, “down link” capacity and much more. This system has a control at the door. The Midwest Airlines Center’s preferred audio/visual provider is United Audio-Visual.

Power, Voice & Data - The Midwest Airlines Center’s state-of-the-art system is equipped to interface with any type of communication connection in use today. It can tie an exhibitor from his booth mini-tower to his meeting room presentation by fiber optic wire. There are separate and combined connections at various locations throughout each division on the wall and in the floor. A full service information technologies department is available for all communication needs.

Access - Entrances include the main rotunda, the mini-rotunda mezzanine doors/Hilton skywalk or the 5th Street door onto the Wisconsin Avenue terrace. The Midwest Airlines Center is designed to allow groups using all meeting rooms easy access and precluding contact with others using the ballroom or exhibit halls. The south side of the building has its own set of escalators and elevators. There are telephones between the major room divisions, rest rooms and drinking fountains on the west end and around the corner at the east end.

Features - The carpeted meeting rooms have inviting integrated curved wood portals at the south doors and 15-feet high ceilings. The walls have vinyl wall covering, warm colored chair rails and wainscot. Room dividers with state-of-the- art technology feature steel walls with over 4 inches of acoustic sound-absorbing material.

Location

Since the opening of the Midwest Airlines Center in 1998, Milwaukee has increased its downtown hotel inventory by 30%. With over 3,000 hotel rooms in the downtown area and over 12,000 citywide, Milwaukee is prepared to host conventions of all sizes.

Highlights of recent hotel renovations include 230 rooms and an indoor waterpark, "Paradise Island," added to the Hilton Milwaukee City Center and an $8 million renovation of the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee.

The Hilton Milwaukee City Center is about a 1 minute walk using the skyway to the Midwest Airlines Center, and the skyway walk from the Hyatt Regency is about 2 minutes.  A short 5 minute walk via a skyway places you in the Grand Avenue Mall, Milwaukee's downtown shopping center.

Milwaukee Theater

Welcome to the Milwaukee Theatre, the new 4,100-seat assembly, concert and theatrical venue that emerged from the Milwaukee Auditorium Renovation Project in Fall, 2003.

This $42 million project totally reconfigures the 1909 Milwaukee Auditorium to provide superior accommodations for both productions and patrons. The facility continues to serve its historical uses for convention, corporate and civic assemblies as well as concerts and theatrical productions. The radical transformation of the main performance hall provides sloped seating in two tiers, a grand, half-domed rotunda lobby, and greatly expanded stage, backstage and public circulation spaces.
